Lascaux / Dordogne
Discover all the information about Montignac and its region
Montignac is located in the Dordogne, in the heart of the Périgord Noir. The city is nestled upstream of the Vézère valley, so aptly named "Valley of Man". It is nestled at the foot of the Lascaux hill where LASCAUX 4 - International Center of Cave Art opened on December 15, 2016.
Montignac is also halfway between Sarlat - the Dordogne Valley and the "Capital of Prehistory", Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. It is the golden triangle of the Périgord Noir. Let's remember that the Vézère valley is 400 000 years of human occupation, 15 sites registered on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage list. Many tourist sites with varied themes are open to visit: crystallization caves, deposits, troglodytic sites, shelters, decorated caves, theme parks, museums, castles, fortresses, gardens.
You can find the list of tourist sites in the "Guide Touristique Vallée Vézère" and on the website : https://www.lascaux-dordogne.com/
